About Me

Daniël P. Melters
The Red Queen is a character in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass. Alice runs after the Red Queen up a hill. It takes Alice all the running she can do, just to keep in the same place. Leigh Van Valen used this as a metaphore for the hypothesis of the evolutionary arm's race. I chase the Red Queen just to keep up with what is going on around me, both as a graduate student at UC Davis and as a husband, father, brother, and son.
